Short papers on Manjoo!

Hi class,

I see that not all of you have posted your short papers on Manjoo on your blogs. If you haven't done so, please do! Your posts should be the equivalent of 1-2 pages in which you reflect on an idea or passage in True Enough, letting us see how your thinking proceeds as you reflect on the passage. If you pose questions that's fine--you don't need definitive answers, but I'd like to see you reflect thoughtfully on your questions.

Cameron's Blog

Hi class,

If you aren't following Cameron's active blog, here it is!

Please follow it, and follow EVERYONE's blog--I see that some of you are only following a few. Once you follow, you can get in the habit of regular commenting on each other's posts--that's the fun part!

Tomorrow

1. Please remember to bring your old drafts and feedback sheets to class with a hard copy of your final draft.
2. Also bring True Enough.

One piece I like on the Wall Street protests

From a woman who found her place there. What do you think?

Are you in love with your I-phone?

I don't have one, so I wouldn't know the feeling. But an oped writer in Saturday's NYTimes cites a study saying that people are literally, physiologically, in love with their I-phones. And of course, people are talking about the article.

Amanda Knox

Have you followed her story? She's the American student who went to Italy to study abroad, and was accused of murdering her roommate. She's been in jail for 4 years, and today she made her final statement--the verdict is expected later today. UPDATE: She was acquitted! Here's a summary of the case for and against her.

For tomorrow

Remember to bring a hard copy of your almost-done draft of essay 1. We will work with the drafts in class.

Also bring any thoughts about your ambassador topic, perhaps including any outside blogs you've found and liked.
